Overview
Our New Zealand Alpine Triple Trophy Hunt offers hunters the opportunity to pursue three of the most iconic species in the Southern Alps in one unforgettable adventure. This 5-day guided hunt combines trophy Red Stag hunting with true free-range mountain hunts for Himalayan Bull Tahr and Alpine Chamois in some of the most spectacular landscapes in the world.
The hunt begins in the rolling hill country and expansive private estates of New Zealand’s South Island, where hunters pursue trophy Red Stag up to 400 SCI. These areas are known for producing exceptional stag genetics and provide ideal habitat for mature animals.
After the stag hunt, hunters venture into the rugged alpine mountains of the Southern Alps to pursue Himalayan Bull Tahr and Alpine Chamois. These two species are hunted free-range in steep mountain terrain, creating a true spot-and-stalk mountain hunting experience.
Few hunts in the world combine three legendary species in such dramatic landscapes. Towering mountains, deep valleys, and expansive alpine basins create an unforgettable hunting environment that draws hunters from around the globe.
Region
New Zealand’s South Island is widely recognized as one of the premier hunting destinations in the world. The Southern Alps dominate the landscape with dramatic peaks, deep valleys, and vast alpine basins that provide ideal habitat for a wide variety of big game species.
The region surrounding Wanaka and the Southern Lakes area is famous for producing exceptional Red Stag trophies while also offering access to some of the best Himalayan Tahr and Chamois hunting anywhere in the world.
These mountains create a unique hunting environment where hunters can pursue multiple species across vastly different terrains in a single trip.

The Hunting Area & Terrain
Hunters will pursue Red Stag on expansive private estates and hill country properties that provide excellent trophy genetics and ideal habitat for mature animals.
For Tahr and Chamois, hunters move into the rugged alpine terrain of the Southern Alps where these animals thrive in steep cliffs, high basins, and rocky ridgelines. These hunts are conducted free-range in true mountain terrain, often requiring glassing from high vantage points and carefully planned stalks.
Species Included
• 1 Red Stag up to 400 SCI
• 1 Himalayan Bull Tahr (free-range mountain hunt)
• 1 Alpine Chamois (free-range mountain hunt)
Red Stag trophies can be upgraded to larger SCI class animals for an additional trophy fee.
Hunters may have the opportunity to pursue additional species during their stay, including:
-
Fallow Deer
-
Arapawa Ram
-
South Pacific Goat
Many hunters choose to add these species to their stag hunt to create a true New Zealand multi-species adventure.
